Prediabetes|Tūraru mate huka

Have you been told you have prediabetes and not sure what to do? If so, this 2 hour session is for you. Learn what prediabetes is, how to manage it and how to reduce your risk of type 2 diabetes. This session is taught by a registered nurse.

Healthy Living with Diabetes | Mate huka

The "Healthy Living" with Diabetes Course is a three session, 2 hour education course that takes a deep dive into what diabetes (mate huka) is and how to manage it with food choices (kai), activity and medication (if needed). You also learn what you can do to prevent diabetes complications. This is the perfect course for people newly diagnosed with diabetes or those looking to update their diabetes knowledge. This session is taught by a registered nurse and a registered dietitian.

FOOD & LABEL READING

Wondering what you can eat when you have diabetes or prediabetes? This course can help you sort the food facts from fiction. Learn the basics of healthy eating including meal planning, snack choices, what look for when supermarket shopping. This 2 hour session is taught by a registered dietitian.

CARBOHYDRATE AWARENESS

Take your food knowledge to the next level during this 2 hour course. We help you learn how carbohydrate foods impact blood glucose levels and how to help manage these with food choices and amounts. Taught by a registered dietitian, this is a useful course to complete after you've completed the Healthy Living or Food Choices & Label Reading courses.

COOKING SERIES

In our cooking series, dietitian tutors demonstrate a variety of diabetes-friendly recipes that are both tasty and nutritious. Lasting 2 hours, each session is an opportunity to sample 3 to 4 new recipes while learning more about food choices for people with diabetes. Each session is based on a theme; themes include Super Fast Meals, Winter Warmers, Budget Friendly Meals, Sweet Treats, and Festive & Summer Eats. Welcome to Type 2 Diabetes | Mate huka

In this 2 hour education session you learn about the basics of managing type 2 diabetes. Taught by a registered nurse, you find out what diabetes is, why it's important to look after it, and the first steps you can take to successfully manage your diabetes with food and lifestyle choices.
