Service Description

The Manawatu Horowhenua and Tararua Diabetes Trust would like to invite youth aged between 9 and 13yrs with diabetes to our biennial Youth Camp. Our camp will be held at Makahika Outdoor Pursuit Centre which is just outside of Levin. It is set among forests and native bush and has a wide range of exciting outdoor activities for our youth/rangatahi. Youth camps allow youth to gain education and understanding of their diabetes whilst taking part in physical activities, all within a supportive and safe environment. They also get to share experiences with others just like them which reduces the feeling of isolation they may feel. Last but not least, they are enjoyable and our youth have lots of fun! Cost: The camp fee is $55.00 (however we have funds available for those families who need to access this which will be kept strictly confidential, please get in contact with me). Every child is eligible for camp. Once you have registered, we will email you: --> the information sheet with details of the camp, and --> the full registration form. The last day for FULL registration and payment: Friday 2nd August 2026 If you have any questions or require any assistance with completing the full registration form, please get in touch: youth@diabetestrust.org.nz Once your child has been registered for the camp, we will let you know if he/she has been accepted, (they usually are). Then further information will be sent out prior to the camp including what to bring, directions on how to get there etc.
