Porritt Lecture (20/11/25)

‘Behind their screens’ by Dr Samantha Marsh

Starts 20 NovWhanganui War Memorial Concert Chamber

Service Description

Our colleagues from the Paediatric Department at Whanganui Hospital have put together the annual Porritt Programme which includes a free public event in the form of the Porritt Lecture. This year the theme is exploring the effects of social media on our young people. 'Behind Their Screens' will feature keynote speaker Dr Samantha Marsh who is one of Aotearoa New Zealand's leading researchers investigating how technology, particularly smartphones and social media, impacts wellbeing and development in children and young people. "Although I am often asked to discuss this topic in the media, what I am truly passionate about is talking about this complex issue with parents, children, teens, and communities and exploring the ways in which we can support kids and families to thrive in the digital world. " Read more about Dr Marsh here: https://www.samanthamarsh.co.nz/ PLEASE REGISTER by Wednesday, 19 November 2025 Please complete the registration form by clicking ‘Book Now’ below.
