DIABETES TRUST

 
  Manawatu Horowhenua & Tararua Diabetes Trust was established in 2000 with prime responsibility being introduction and management of the Free Annual “Get Checked” Review for all persons diagnosed with Diabetes. In October 2007 this responsibility was passed onto the Manawatu PHO however in the period between establishment and this handover the Trust had become involved in numerous other areas in which it continues today.
Currently The Trust is contracted to MidCentral DHB to provide services listed
  • Consumer education
  • Diabetes information
  • Child, youth and young adult education and activities
The Trust also has contracts with other DHBs to provide similar services.

GOVERNANCE:
A board of five Trustees govern the Trust. These persons are representative of the four interest groups with an independent chairman.
  • Kathy Scott represents consumers;
  • Margaret Walsh is the Maori representative;
  • Helen Snell is the Secondary care appointee;
  • Chrissy Paul is the Primary Care representative;
  • John Culling is independent chairman.
